Ha, so if he didn't end up scoring tonight, he may have never had a thread? How nice
.Congrats Powe. He seems to be playing good for the minutes he recieves, and it's always good to get the first goal out of the way. Bertuzzi-Cammalleri-Iginla

He works hard, that's how it gets done
![]() Sig courtesy of SoJer4! Thanks man! Ok today I want to talk about our defense. The best defense is an offense and the best offense is a defense. The reason why an offense is the best defense is because in hockey, the team that scores the most wins.And if our offense outscores their offense, they'll be defenseless. Their defense might be able to stop our offense, but it can't stop our defense, because when we're on defense they have to be on offense. And if we have an offensive-minded defense, there's no way they can defend us. Now I don't mean to be defensive, but some of you might find this offensive. We're gonna call our defense our offense, and our offense our defense. That way we'll remember to use our defense as an offense, and our offense as a defense against their offense. And that'll TOTALLY confuse them...........OK! Let's go out and play some hockey! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG30eWNSKYE |

And he gets a between-periods interview with that bubble-head Chris Simpson. Doesn't get any better than that, eh?

QUOTE (frick @ Dec 10 2008, 12:38 PM) I don't think I did. However, he's always working hard when he's on the ice, so this was his "reward." If Nodl continues to work hard, his time will come. Congrats to Powe, now that the first one is out of the way, I'm sure we'll see more from him in the near future.
![]() "I look at that as a 50-50 chance. Sometime you're going to hit him and create a turnover, but the other half of the time you're going to miss and you're going to give up a breakaway. I see no point in giving up chances like that. A big hit might look pretty and get you on the highlights but a simple pokecheck at the blue line does the same thing.'' - Ryan Parent

I like his work ethic on the ice. Even if he hadn't scored, he would still be one of my favs. Maybe it's because of his Bobby Clarke toothless smile.

Re: Darroll Powe | #12 | ||

I was looking up stats on the AHL Web site and saw that Powe was among the league leaders in SHG (4) and had a total of 5 SH points last season. I wonder if that's part of the reason they brought him up to play this year, to groom him for the PK.

QUOTE (propp16 @ Dec 11 2008, 04:14 PM) I would say it's possible that's why they decided to bring him up. He was playing on the PK the other night against the Islanders, & he did do pretty good while with the Flyers during training camp, & then again during his first stint earlier this season (before his concussion.) ![]() "I look at that as a 50-50 chance. I like this guy on the team. He works hard every game, he can throw hits, and he seems pretty good on defense.

Get rid of Jones!!
“We were allowed to spend the money, we always tried to win.. We didn’t do what Pittsburgh did; lose seven years in a row so they could get good. They did it twice, in fact. They went through six or seven different owners. We’ve had one owner.” - Bobby Clarke Go Giants |

QUOTE (propp16 @ Dec 11 2008, 04:14 PM) I think that is a big part of the reason that they have him up here. He was one of the Phantoms top penalty killers last season and with Berube now running the PK, he knows what he can bring to the table in that area. |
