So after 1 game my observations...
Bryz looked solid. None of the goals were his fault. Bad deflection off of Schenn, bad faceoff loss, empty net. He made some really nice saves and seemed confident.
Our defense is extremely slow. Self explanatory.
G is absolutely filthy but at times he does try to do it himself. Late in the 3rd he tried to dangle 3 Pens instead of passing and lost it at the blue line. Just get it in deep and grind.
Wellwood is sooooo freaking fast! No way this guy loses his roster spot in my eyes.
Laughton was good in his 1st game. Not sure if he sticks around after 5 games but he has a promising future. Just needs to adjust to the strength of NHL players.
Our biggest issues were the Powerplay and missing the net! You have to hit the net. Coburn still shoots wide every shot he takes.

My concern is them relying on G to much. I really didn't see any offensive threats from others that I felt were solid scoring chances without him on the ice.
I also cannot stand the lack of support at the blue line when the Flyers are in the offensive zone. It seems every time there are three down low and the puck comes out towards the blue line the D men are outside the zone unable to hold the zone. There is no sustained pressure.

I'll give credit where it's due. Fleury stepped his game up and Pitt's D showed up, unlike in the playoffs. Ok enough about them, our boys as usual looked sluggish in the 1st. Started to find their stride in the 2nd and 3rd. Bryz did play a good game. Still too early in my opinion to see if we have the 2nd half of the season last year Bryz. But so far I'm please. I agree the D looked slow. It's one game, there's some new faces. I'm sure today's game at Buffalo will be different
My favorite team is the Orange & Black and whoever beats Pittsburgh......
