In a perfect world:

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Simmonds - Briere - Read
Fedotenko - Schenn - Couturier
Wellwood/Zolnierczyk - Talbot/Holmstrom - Rinaldo/Shelley
&
Coburn - Timonen
Meszaros - Grossmann
Schenn - Foster
Gervais - Gustafsson
Bourdon - Lilja

In reality, due to injuries:

Just saw on Comcast Sports Net that it looks like Schenn will be on the wing on G's and Hartnell's line, as of now.

I'm in favor of this in theory. I'm still not sold on Voracek ever developing into a top 3 forward.

Rinaldo

Timonen-Meszaros
Coburn-Grossmann
Foster-Schenn

My edit for heyeaglefn :
Until Briere is ready
Couturier centers 2cd line
Talbot centers 3rd line
Holstrom centers 4th line

Briere is out for opening weekend so he should't be in anyone's lineup.

I predict that my point is more correct then yours. With the help of time zones, those predictions are usually quite accurate

I wouldnt split up talbot and coots, they had great chemistry on the same line in the playoffs and are both shut down guys.

I personally would like to see Sestito be the extra man not Shelley. Is Sestito practicing with the team?

I´d rather see Sestito than Rinaldo on the ice. Shelley shouldn´t be an option at all.

Rinaldo's actually been working on his two-way play. Add that to his physical presence. I'd much rather see Sestito than Shelley as well. At least Sestito can skate.

Voracek on third line?! With Fedotenko above him on the depth chart?!

Schenn on first line, despite his inconsistency in the NHL?!

And Mez on third pairing, below Luke Schenn?!

This is madness! :dizzy:

Similar madness. Rinaldo > Sestito > Shelley IMO

Yeah, its not so much that I'm saying that Fedotenko is better than Voracek, its the linemates I wanted these guys to have.

I understand, but your third line looks a bit weak defensively with just Couts at center for defensive strength. Not knocking Voracek, but I think he's definitely suited for 2nd line minutes. Brayden Schenn is still too inconsistent and small to be effective defensively, IMO. Hence why I feel that Fedotenko should be on that third line to even-out the defensive balance on lines.

Our best defensive forwards are (IMO, and in no particular order):
Giroux
Hartnell
Simmonds
Couturier
Talbot
Fedotenko (from what I've heard and read on his past performance)
Rinaldo
Sestito
...and Read and Voracek did pretty well last year when falling back to stop the opponent's rush. Read is still a bit small to really be effective, whereas Voracek primarily used his speed and finesse to strip opposing players (plus he can dish out decent hits when he gets riled up).
